Welcome to the Library and Information Advisory Commission website
The Library and Information Advisory Commission Ngā Kaiwhakamārama i ngā Kohikohinga Kōrero (LIAC) is an advisory body on the role of library and information services in the social, cultural and economic life, including Mātauranga Māori, of Aotearoa New Zealand.
LIAC reports directly to the Minister Responsible for the National Library.
Before giving advice to the Minister, the Commission must have regard to:
- recent national and international developments in relation to library and information services; and
- the appropriate means for promoting collaboration among the museums, libraries and archives sectors, in relation to protection, preservation and promoting access to information.
